Ederly Parents Should Live in Nursing Homes or Not? Essay
Vietnamââ¬â¢s population is older and older and it is important for young people, especially politicans, to seriously think about the issue of nursing homes. Should elderly parents live in nursing homes or not? Sending elderly parent into nursing homes is the best choice for them in the rest of their lives for three main reasons. First, elderly parents live in nursing homes will be good for their children. Nowadays, young people are too busy. They have o go to work and have no time to take care of their parents. They leave their parents at home lonely for whole day and feel nervous about their parents. Consequently, they can not concerntrate on their work and nursing homes are a good choice for them to send their parents into. Second, when elderly line in nursing homes, they can make friends with the people at the same age. They will fell very happy because they can chat whole day with their friends, do some helpful excercises such as jogging, tai chi, instead of being lonely at h ome when their children go to work. Third, the most important reason, is that nursing homes can provide elderly parents with modern health care facilities. In nursing homes, professional doctors, nurses and high quality equipments are always available to take care of elderly parents. Doctors here also give them a suitable diet which is good for their health. Opponents of sending elderly parents into nursing homes say that elderly parents will fell lonely when they live far from their children and it is also against Vietnamese moral value. However, as stated previously, nursing homes are the place which provide old people with the best health care. Moreover, their children can come and visit them whenever they want. In conclusion, there are undoubtly many benefits to send elderly parents into nursing homes. Most of old people who live in nursing homes show that they live better and happier with their friend here. Sending elderly parents into nursing homes becomes an important issue for both young people and elderly pare nts themselves to think about.
Life of Pi Response
Life of Pi: Reading Response When I began reading ââ¬ËLife of Piââ¬â¢ by Yann Martel I had little expectation it would peak my interest. I expected it to be a boring school assignment that I would have to get through, process the information and put on paper. To my relief, this book was completely the opposite. I must admit, the beginning chapters were quite dry. I would have never chosen in the beginning of a book to mention a sloth, probably the most uninteresting mammal ever. Slowly, the book progresses to where it gives you a little background information on Piscine Patel and his life in India. In part one, I really liked where Mamaji taught Piscine to swim. Looking back it proved to be a very important for Piââ¬â¢s survival I dislike stories where the heroââ¬â¢s journey is clearly defined anda once weak man overcomes unrealistic circumstances to become a stronger man. That was not the case in this book. I like the realness of the book, especially in the case of Richard Parker. He wasnââ¬â¢t personified in any way really. He was what I think a natural tiger would be given the conditions. What I really enjoyed about this book was the deep thinking it evoked. The author allowed you to come to your own conclusion as to whether the story with the animals or the story with the people was true. Normal logic and reasoning tells you that the story with the people would be right, because the chance of the story with the animals happening is hard to believe. Both stories have the same circumstances and follow the same events. The zebra represents the sailor, the hyena is the cook, the orangutan is the mother and Richard Parker is Pi, but I believe the story with the humans is the true story. I think that the story with the animals was Piââ¬â¢s way of coping with the reality that his mother was murdered and that he murdered someone as well. I believe the choice that the members of the Ministry of Transport had to make about the stories is a metaphor for religion. Science and many religions all have an explanation for certain events and some seem farfetched, yet they could all be possible. In the end, itââ¬â¢s all up to what you believe, and the way you interpret it.

Architectural Project
Parliamentary buildings are always meant to attract different people meaning that the grander the structure, the stronger the public and national interest and reaction to them.à These buildings normally reflect the tradition and stability showing that they portray the image or the commanding presence of the state (Daniel, 1995).The parliamentary buildings are also known to provide ideals of national identity and pride of a given state showing its strength.à Splendor and command, even majesty is always shown in the grandest of parliamentary buildings especially those in America in the nineteenth century. The Norman Foster New German parliament is a project of architecture since it has developed after destruction of many parliamentary buildings.à Attention was first devoted to German development, both in regard to the Bundestag building in Berlin (Michael, 1998).The Reichstag building is historical known for its richness in sensitive historical and political associations.à à These buildings have raised some questions of national symbols, questions of the European traditions and democratic aspiration of the newly reunited Germany. This why there has been debates on whether the new parliament building is something to do with politics or architecture.à But in the real sense it is believed to be an architectural project following the changes that have been experienced in the field of architecture since early ages in the building and rebuilding of the parliament. (Dieter, 2003).Early architectural changes began from year 1949 ââ¬â 1971 following reunification of Germany.à They started rebuilding projects and expanding the parliament in Bonn.à Architectural changes were undertaken from 1949 by a leading architect of the day by the name Haris Schwippert. He laid down a new chamber for the Bundestag which was completed for a short while. The project was made up of glass showing that they were a trademark of German post-war architectural style.à Several small developments existed to the parliament buildings site by 1969 when a large multi-storey building was erected to accommodate members and other services.à The building consisted of 30 storeys and was a notable landmark in Bonn region since it could be seen from Rhine.Towards the end of 1969 the federal cabinet ordered a stop to the adhoc building programs of the government in Bonn (Stephen, 2005).à The cabinet then formed a commission to look at a wider town planning implications of government office and parliamentary accommodation.Restructuring of the town and new buildings was an architectural concern in the country.à The parliament new building was to contain office blocks for government, child care facilities, an international conference center, new buildings for Bundestage, and the bundestrat and finally a hotel with apartment. All these led to a lot of complications and confusions.à This forced the different architectural firms to do some projects in co llaboration with other firms. This led to further development in the redesigning of the Bonn parliamentary building from 1971 ââ¬â 1992. (Foster, 2000).The architectural firms made a lot of restructural challenges, arrangements and consultation with the concerned citizens.à The revised plan was then announced or declared in the December 1978.à Further architectural competitions were experienced by this time.In1983 another complication emerged when it was found out that the fabric of the main chamber (plenarsaal) was seriously impaired. This required the parliament building to be demolished as it could not be re-built a according to the architectural findings. Various experts were called for advice and in the upshot it emerged that preservation of the existing building in its framework would greatly increase expenditure because of its unsuitable nature. The decision to build new parliamentary building was finally made after along discussion that did not want the building to be demolished.à Many stakeholders wanted the only affected chamber to be rebuilt (Corola, 2004).à However the demolition of the new chamber succeeded since the state government had limited power to intervene in matters affecting the federal parliament. The rebuilding of the chamber included other ancillary facilities adjacent to it meaning that the project was expected to be wider than just the chamber it self. (Jaeger, 1999).

Compare and contrast the total GDP of the Arab world Essay
Compare and contrast the total GDP of the Arab world - Essay Example In the case of France, the countryââ¬â¢s GDP ($2.734 trillion) alone is greater than the combined GDP of Arab League members. In 2011, Germanyââ¬â¢s GDP was estimated to be $3.55 trillion, which is $1.24 trillion greater than the total GDP of Arab League members. The Arab League membersââ¬â¢ combined GDP is nearly half the GDP of Japan ($5.773 trillion) alone in the same year. It is interesting to note that Japan achieved this status despite the massive Tsunami attack on March 2011. Finally, the United Statesââ¬â¢ GDP is 6 times greater than the total GDP of Arab League members in 2011. According to CIA World Factbook, total GDP of the occupied Palestine was estimated to be $6.641 billion in 2011. As compared to the GDP of Israel ($239.8 billion) in the same year, it seems that the combined GDP of Arab League members represents only 2.77% of the Israel GDP. From the above compare and contrast analysis, it is clear that the combined GDP of 22 Arab League members is less than the GDP of economically developed countries like United States, Japan, Germany, and France. It must be noted that this combined GDP would be smaller if members like Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Egypt are taken away from the list. Countries like US, Japan, and Germany contribute to global economy far better than Arab League members do combinedly. As stated in the Arab League Investment and Business Giude despite the enormous oil and natural gas reserves, the Arab Leagueââ¬â¢s economy greatly struggles to stabilize the regionââ¬â¢s growth; and tourism sector is appeared to be one of the fastest growing industries in this area (14). Experts suggest that Arab League members have adequate key resources to enhance their GDP growth rate over the next decades. Finally, the GDP of the occupied Palestine (Gaza Strip and West Bank) constitutes only a small percent of the GDP o f the

Some people have native ability, and some people might further develop and refine their talents capabilities through education and training. With difference in education and training their capacity will also vary to cause them to have varying income. Companies employing discrimination in hiring also causes in equality in income. As in the United States, discrimination could restrict racial and ethnic minorities to low-paying occupations (McConnell. and S. Brue, 2005). The reality of preferences and risks chosen by different people (Bonvin and Farvaque, 2005; Esters and Ledoux, 2001; OHalloran and Linton, 2000) for work relative to pleasure, to work in the household and the types of market work definitely will cause differences in income as riskier jobs would normally get paid higher. Management Tasks and Computer Technology Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Management Tasks and Computer Technology - Essay Example In this scenario, much of the data and information comes openly from the vision and mission statement for the organization. In addition, establishing objectives for the business goal and following up on the implementation of the plan are two significant elements of the planning function. For instance, if an organization wants to open a new local restaurant, the manager will need to develop a marketing plan, a hiring plan and a sales plan. Additionally, the formulation of these plans can involve extensive searches of data and information as well as creation of a technically feasible proposal. In this scenario, computers present an excellent support for carrying out the task of information search through information retrieval systems on the Internet (Rothbauer-Wanish; FAO). Moreover, a good information recovery system which can help in collection and retrieval of related data and information on the subject of concern can significantly improve the quality of data and information collect ion. With the exception of this, there are a wide variety of other packages for this service. For instance, activities such as working out project budgets, time frames and generation of proposal reports can be aided with the help of data management systems, electronic spreadsheets and word processing, which smooth the progress of development and management of various alternatives with relative simplicity. At the present, the majority of business organizations make use of the Internet for planning of their tasks. For instance, if an organization wants to launch a new product or a service, it can use internet based surveys to collect the response of people. In light of their response, an organization can better decide whether it should launch a particular product or not. So, the use of information technology can save a lot of precious time and effort of an organization (Rothbauer-Wanish; FAO). Organizing Another significant job of managers is organization of the business and this cons ists of various important tasks such as organizing people and resources. In fact, determining how many people would be required for specific shifts can be vital to the success of an organization. On the other hand, if those workers do not have the essential resources to carry out their activities, organization cannot occur. In addition, without an organized place of work, workers will perceive a manager as unqualified and may lose respect for that specific managerââ¬â¢s managerial techniques. In this scenario, computer supported tools and applications can play a significant role. At the present, there are a wide variety of tools and applications which can perform these jobs on behalf of managers. For instance, MS Project can be used to organize tasks. A Gantt chart can provide the necessary information such as when a particular activity will be completed and how much resources will be required to perform a specific task. In this way, computer technology has made this function of management relatively easier (Rothbauer-Wanish; FAO). Leading The management and leadership are not the same activity. Basically, a manager is responsible for managing the workers and their tasks. In other words, this person ensures that all the activities are carried out on time and specific rules and standards are followed. In this scenario,
